Tradesman and security professional Patrick Winstanley seeks Yukon NDP nomination in Lake Laberge
Tradesman and Government of Yukon security worker Patrick Winstanley announced today that he wants to run for the Yukon NDP in Lake Laberge in the upcoming territorial election. Winstanley is seeking the Yukon NDP nomination to represent Lake Laberge residents with a fresh, positive voice.
“I've been a lifelong supporter of the NDP because our economic and social values align," said Winstanley. "I want to re-build trust between the Yukon government and our First Nations, which has been lost under the Yukon Party."
Winstanley has spent the past few years working as a security officer for the Yukon government, including stints at the Yukon Legislative Assembly. There Winstanley heard the ongoing disrespectful tone from the government benches.
"I listened to the Pasloski government's same old rhetoric about mining and the economy and watched it go nowhere; not bringing in any jobs," he added. "I decided to join a team that would put their words into action. I decided to join the slate of Yukon NDP candidates."
Winstanley has previously volunteered for the NDP. If elected to represent the constituents of Lake Laberge, he would work to improve infrastructure for the riding including roads, highway entrances and exits and improvements to water supply options.
"I believe it is time for a change in Yukon. It is time to clear out stale old ideas and replace them with fresh new ones. I believe it is time for the Yukon NDP to form a new government that represents all segments of our society under Premier Liz Hanson.”
