City of Dawson Councillor Jay Farr has announced that he’s running for the Yukon NDP’s Klondike nomination. The high-profile announcement comes as the Yukon NDP call for a new chapter in Dawson City’s mining history by updating Yukon’s outdated mining laws which allow the application to the Surface Rights Board to move an entire Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in neighbourhood off their own land.

Progressive voters in Lake Laberge gathered on Tuesday to nominate their candidate for this fall’s territorial election. Bud McCue, business manager for the Whitehorse local of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, will carry the Yukon NDP banner in the rural riding just north of the city. As a union member, McCue is eager to be part of an NDP government that will respects workers’ rights and work hard to create decent paying jobs for Yukoners.

The NDP stateswoman, currently a visiting professor at Ryerson University, will be in town to show her support for the Yukon NDP’s team of experienced candidates and to take part in the growing momentum surrounding the Yukon NDP’s pre-election work. A lifelong paddler, Chow is currently on her latest Yukon river expedition down the Firth River north of Old Crow ahead of her visit to Whitehorse.

Union rep McCue seeks Yukon NDP nomination in Lake Laberge

Union employee Bud McCue announced today his intention to run for the Yukon NDP in Lake Laberge. The business manager for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1574 says that it’s time to stand up for Yukon and puts Yukoners first. McCue is running for a spot on the Yukon NDP team because he believes in the party’s track record in office and Yukon NDP Leader Liz Hanson’s strong belief in consultation and collaborative decision-making.
