About eighty Yukoners came out to a “Kevin Barr-B-Q” (so named by 4-year old Maddie) to officially acclaim Kevin Barr as the Yukon NDP's candidate in Mount Lorne–Southern Lakes ahead of this year’s territorial election.

Mount Lorne–Southern Lakes MLA Kevin Barr, speaking before friends, neighbours and supporters, announced his plan to run for re-election this year. The popular musician, who lives near Carcross on Crag Lake is finishing a successful first term in office that was marked by a number of important community victories for the residents of the Southern Lakes region and for people across the Yukon.
