Jay Farr is a City of Dawson council member and former Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation’s deputy chief. Farr’s political experience and deep roots in the community will make Klondike one of the most watched races in this fall’s election.
Farr has worked hard to represent the citizens of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and Dawson as an elected official and feels ready to take that to the next level by becoming an MLA under Premier Liz Hanson.
“I have been impressed and encouraged by the Yukon NDP’s strong and measured approach to the issues: the environment, government to government relations, and most recently, the mining debacle at C4” said Farr. “As a Yukon NDP MLA, I want to be a part of positive new government that will work with partners like municipalities and First Nation governments to put forward solutions to these problems.”
“The Yukon NDP has long been a leader in the territory, as the only party that has unequivocally supported the Final Recommended Peel Watershed Land Use Plan from day one and has taken a principled position against the use of hydraulic fracturing in the territory.”
Yukon NDP Leader Liz Hanson was pleased to add yet another strong candidate to the Yukon NDP roster. “Jay brings a depth of experience as an elected official, and with such deep roots in the community, he’ll make an excellent representative for all residents of the Klondike.”
